CoW DAO Monthly Recap: August 2026

Most months, CoW DAO’s story is what we’ve built. But this month, the story is about where CoW Protocol showed up. MetaMask's new agent wallet, Jumper's advanced trading mode, RHEA's cross-chain DEX — CoW Protocol is increasingly becoming the execution layer other teams reach for, rather than a destination on its own. Meanwhile, governance spent the month working through one of its more technically demanding proposals in public.

Here's everything.

August by the Numbers

Monthly Volume: $2.88B

Monthly Trades: 353,601

Active Wallets: 70,552 (44,187 new · 26,365 returning)

Cumulative All-Time Volume: $211.6B

DEX aggregator market share: 15.1%, 3rd across all supported chains

Chain breakdown - top 5 (August):

  • Ethereum led at $2.6b

  • Base ($120.3m)

  • Arbitrum ($80.4m)

  • BNB ($79.1m)

  • Gnosis ($10.2m)

Integrations

Agents Can Trade Now Too: MetaMask Agent Wallet

CoW Protocol is part of the execution stack behind MetaMask's new Agent Wallet, live for everyone as of August 6. As autonomous agents start holding and moving funds on people's behalf, the execution layer underneath them matters as much as it does for human traders — MEV protection and best execution don't stop being relevant just because a human isn't the one clicking "swap."

Jumper Advanced

CoW Protocol now powers limit orders inside Jumper's new Advanced trading mode, alongside simulated swaps, smart slippage, and large-order splitting. It's a sign of where CoW Protocol keeps landing: not as the front door, but as the execution engine behind serious trading tools built by other teams.

RHEA Finance

CoW Protocol is also powering order routing and slippage protection for RHEA Finance's cross-chain DEX, supporting institutional-size trades — $50K to $500K — on stablecoins including USDC, USDT, and EURe, from any EVM asset to any token whitelisted by NEAR Intents. Same story as MetaMask and Jumper: CoW Protocol's execution shows up wherever serious trades needs them.

Lido NEST: Automated Treasury Execution

Lido now uses CoW Protocol to power NEST's automated LDO buybacks on mainnet — rule-based, DAO-controlled, MEV-protected, running daily in the background. It's a different kind of integration than a trading front-end: this is CoW Protocol as the execution layer for another DAO's own treasury operations, not just its users' trades.

Affiliate Program: $200M+ Referred

The Moo & Earn Affiliate Program crossed $200 million in total referred volume this month, with over 1,000 affiliates now participating. Crossing four figures in affiliate count alongside the volume milestone is arguably the more interesting number — it says the program isn't just being driven by a handful of large referrers, but by a genuinely growing base of people with a reason to share a link.

Governance

CIP-87: Penalty Cap Redesign proposed switching solver settlement penalties from a flat, chain-specific amount to a small percentage of trade size. It drew real technical debate on the forum, moved to a Snapshot vote on August 19, and passed on August 25.

Grants

The UI Translation Program finished external translation work on August 21 and is now in internal review phase through September 11, ahead of deployment.

Treasury

The CoW DAO Treasury — July 2026 Monthly Report is out.

See You in September

August was a month of showing up — inside agent wallets, advanced trading tools, and institutional cross-chain flows — while governance did the less visible work of getting a technical proposal right in public. See you in September.
